Welcome to Bebop's Place

Beauty has been defined as "The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality." Since our responses are totally subjective, I can only speak to what moves me.

I want to share the beauty! I have created a variety of floral products for my Zazzle stores, Bebop's Place and Bebop's Weddings, using my original photographs and designs. I am also constantly amazed at the gorgeous floral products available from the rest of the Zazzle community. I am hoping others will enjoy this blog and even be moved to purchase some of these lovely items for gifts or just for the pleasure of having such beauty around.

Recently I was pleasantly surprised when I sold my first tie. To celebrate, I'm posting this tie I made for Bebop's Place which features a repeating journey into the heart of a brilliant single petaled red rose. Her golden yellow stamens and velvety petals form a wonderful abstract pattern.

Kismet - Love Poem Card by Love Letters is really touching. A single red rose adorns the front of this beautiful card with original poetry that says I've loved you forever. A fine poem is inside.

Three stunning roses in shades of pink and coral accent this lovely thank you card from Designs by Shell.

Yesterday I watched a tiny Red Eft making his way along a woodland path. It reminded me of this sticker I made for Bebop's Place from a photo I took last summer. The Red Eft is the terrestrial juvenile stage of the Eastern Newt. This curious orange fellow with red spots has just emerged from the pond to spend two or three years on land before heading back to the water as a full grown salamander.

And now, to the roses...

Lovely pink rose circle from the garden of TitiaG, different colors and different shapes. These flowers are a treasure on each gift, like cards, invitations, mugs, mousepads, mugs, letterhead, stationery, T-shirts for men and women and kids, buttons, magnets, keychains, stickers. You name it and it's there and you can change the background, the image, add your own text, customize it to your own liking.

This stamp by Holiday Hearts features roses atop black and gradient black and red squares and the word "Love" spelled out across the gradient squares for a look that is simple and elegant yet dramatic. Available in several variations.

Today I was thinking back to June which is the peak of the rose blooming season here in upstate New York. This note card I made for Bebop's Place just about sums it up.

I have already been out picking green beans and cucumbers. Later, I think I'll go into the woods and look for mushrooms.

Yesterday I mentioned that all my rugosas are blooming in the garden. I took this picture of Pink Grootendorst and made her into a poster for Bebop's Place. I love the way the soft pink petals blend into the green and yellow pastel tones of the leafy background. She is a repeat bloomer, gracing our garden with her beauty all summer long. I have digitally enhanced my original photograph to create a watercolor effect.

Sunday - August 15, 2010

It's a rainy Sunday in the middle of the month. Is housework on the horizon for me? Sigh.

The rugosa roses are just about the perfect rose to grow. They are tough, hardy, fragrant and repeat their blooms. Right now I have five rugosas blooming: F.J.Grootendorst, Pink Grootendorst, Sir Thomas Lipton, the standard old rugosa you see at the beach, and this beauty, Conrad Meyer, which I made into a pin for Bebop's Place.

What a great design this is! This vintage image is a wreath made in the shape of a heart. It is composed of beautiful red roses and green leaves. See the Art by Mar store for matching products with this design.

I love this stunning cluster of roses in mauve and purple shades. An elegant floral thank you card by Seashell2 perfect for wedding thanks, showers, etc.

All this heat and rain is making the garden grow, including the weeds. I think I will be weeding a lot today. Yesterday, we had a picnic lunch in the flower garden. It took me forever to finish my sandwich because I kept grabbing my camera to capture all the little creatures visiting the Verbena bonariensis. This flower was attracting honeybees, bumblebees, sulphur butterflies, hummingbirds, frittilaries and this monarch butterfly, who is now on a note card at Bebops Place.

And now, more gorgeous roses...

This mug by Jadavision looks good enough to eat. It is a design of a wedding cake with pink flowers on a white sugar paste base.

Beautiful, heartfelt sentiments are always in style. Tell her you love her in English and French with this perfectly lovely magnet by IrelandYes.

Friday - August 13, 2010

Oh dear, Friday the 13th. Hope we all dodge the gremlin bullets.
This is way off the subject of roses and gardens, but I wanted to share a photo I took yesterday evening at sunset and turned into a note card for Bebops Place. This card features a magical play of light and color on a hilltop at sunset. It had been raining all day. The sky began to clear just as the sun was setting. The foreground begins with a hint of green, then a layer of golden weeds, and then a field of ripening corn ending in a hedgerow of trees. Distant hills in the mist can be seen beyond the field. The partly cloudy sky creates a glorious pattern of pink, gold, yellow, orange, mauve, blue and white.

Okay, here are some roses...

I love this card from Beachwalker. It's definitely different from the standard hearts and flowers approach. Romantic black card with a distressed heart and text makes for an edgier greeting card - maybe even goth? Customize with your sentiments if you wish!

This card from Botany_Boy features the marvelous artwork of Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759-1840). I love the old roses and this Rosa centifolia foliacea is just a wonderful example.
